Abdon T. Gonzalez, 83 was given the gift of life, on February 16, 1934 and returned to his heavenly home, peacefully on June 29, 2017.  At the time of his passing, he was residing at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, CO.  Abdon was born in Cuidad Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the son of the late Simon Gonzalez and Ines Talamante Gonzalez.  He was the second oldest of six siblings.

Abdon and his family migrated for work for many years from Texas to North Dakota during the sugar beet harvest.  At the age of 12 his parents ended up settling and purchasing a home in Wiggins, CO in 1946.  It was there that he worked for Wiggins Grain Elevator until his retirement.  Abdon became a United States Citizen on June 13, 1978, an accomplishment for which he was very proud of.

Though a confirmed bachelor all of his life, he was always surrounded by nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved him as much as if he was their own father.  He helped in raising a niece from the age 6 to 18.

Abdon was passionate about fishing and spent many of his retirement years fishing at Jackson Lake.

Abdon is survived by his sister, Crisanta Gonzalez of Brush, CO, and a brother Simon Gonzalez Jr. of Sterling, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Ines T. Gonzalez; brothers Juan and Efrain Gonzalez; sisters Juanita Perez and Sofia Coronado.

Visitation for Abdon will be Thursday July 6, 2017 from 3-5PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan with a Rosary to follow at 5:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church. An Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
