Al Dytkiewicz, 81, passed away Monday evening, November 14, 2011, at his home in Brush. He was born June 21, 1930, in Chicago, IL to Leo & Emily Dytkiewicz. Al began working in the steel mills after he graduated from high school Al served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict where he received a purple heart for injuries suffered during the conflict After his discharge he went back to work in the steel mills in south Chicago, working for US Steel Company. On April 16, 1955, he married Dorothy Marczek. After retiring, Al & Dorothy lived in the Fraser Valley for several years before moving to Brush in June 2005. Al was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. He greatly enjoyed traveling, especially international traveling. Survivors include his daughter, Geri Dahle, and her husband Karl, of Snyder, CO; 3 sons, George Tokas, and his wife Judy of Menifee, CA; Don Dytkiewicz of Kankakee, IL; and Michael Dytkiewicz, and his wife, Melanie, of Winter Park, CO; and 4 grandchildren, Adam and Emily Dahle and Derrick & Deanne Dytkiewicz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; 1 sister, Patricia; 2 brothers, Jerry & David; and his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 18, 2011, at 1:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. The service will conclude with military honors at the church. Visitation will be the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Thursday from 5 – 7 PM. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery columbarium.
