Alan Meyer, a lifelong resident of Fort Morgan, passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born in 1952 to Alex and Lydia (Weimer) Meyer, Alan spent his life dedicated to faith, family, farming, and his community. He married his high school sweetheart, Jody Meyer, in 1973, and together they raised two sons, Nolan and Beau, who, alongside his grandchildren Jace, Ellie, Lucas, and Lexxi, were the light of his life.

He took immense pride in watching his sons and grandchildren play sports, and that support grew into a personal passion for coaching. Alan spent many years coaching track and field at Fort Morgan Middle School, where he became a mentor and positive influence for countless students. He had a gift for encouraging young athletes to believe in themselves, always focusing on effort, improvement, and sportsmanship. His presence on the track was steady and motivating, and many students remember him not just as a coach but as someone who genuinely cared about their growth on and off the field.

Alan was deeply committed to his faith and played an active role in the Methodist Church. He served on numerous committees, helped maintain the church building, and found true joy in singing in the choir. Music was a meaningful part of Alan's spiritual life, and he cherished the fellowship and worship that came with raising his voice alongside his church family each week.

A proud and lifelong farmer, Alan was a pillar in the local agriculture community. He was an active member of FFA, Young Farmers, and 4-H. He loved raising calves and pigs to be shown at the county fair and found great joy mentoring youth through agricultural programs. His passion for farming and dedication to the next generation left a lasting impact on those around him.

Alan is survived by his sons Nolan (Sarah) Meyer and Beau (Vanessa) Meyer; grandchildren Jace, Ellie, Lucas, and Lexxi; brothers Bob Meyer and Don Meyer; sisters Janet Foos, Linda McKelberg, Debbie Lotts, and Diana Beisel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Lydia Meyer; his beloved wife, Jody Meyer; and his sister, Mary-Ann Sargent.

Alan will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and the deep care he showed to his family, church, and community.

A service to celebrate Alan's life will be held at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church on June 2nd at 11:00 a.m.
