Albert R. "Sonny" McNamee, 77, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born January 3, 1929, in Brush to Ralph & Myrtle McNamee. In 1951, Al graduated from Colorado A & M (CSU) and was commissioned through ROTC into the US Air Froce. After completing navigator / bombardier training on B-25 & B-26 aircraft, he served in Korea, and later Viet Name. Colonel McNamee was Comptroller, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill AFB, Utah, before retiring in 1981 after thirty years of active duty service. He married Eleanor Beatty on May 23, 1958, in Sacramento, CA. He received his MBA from Southern Illinois University and a BS in accounting from Weber State University in Utah. After his military career, Al was employed part-time by James & Company, a CPA firm in Ogden, UT as a tax accountant. In 2000, the NcNamee's moved to Goodyear, AZ, where Al was a member of the PebbleCreek Community Church and the PebbleCreek Men's Golf Association. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Goodyear, AZ; 4 children, Jane Tauanuu, and her husband, Frank, of Mililani, HI, Albert Jr. of North Shore,Hawaii, Stuart of Lancaster, California, and Douglas of Atlanta, Georgia; and 3 grandchildren Steven, Kona, and Malia Tauanuu. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Charles and his parents. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 13, 2006, at 1:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel Brush. Military Honors and interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
