Albert Duane Travis was born in Flagler, Colorado, to Robert Duane and Zelda Irene Travis on July 10, 1949, and departed this life on January 13, 2025, at the age of seventy-five.

Albert began his life with his parents at the home of Arthur and Ruth Johnson, who were his father's maternal grandparents, near the Sunnydale Evangelical Church. In 1951 his parents purchased their farm east and north of Anton where they raised their four children and entertained the grandchildren as they were born.

Albert attended school initially at Anton, Colorado. After the school furnace exploded at the Anton School he attended succeeding grades at the Lindon Elementary School, High Prairie Elementary School, and finally the Arickaree School where he graduated in 1967. Albert enjoyed his involvement in choir, football, wrestling, and track during his high school years. He especially enjoyed the pole-vaulting competitions.

Albert furthered his education by attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, completing a bachelor's degree in industrial arts education and student teaching as a shop teacher.

Following his college graduation Albert began long-haul trucking which he enjoyed for several years. In time, he purchased his own semi truck for work. Throughout his lifetime he worked at Monfort meat packing plant, Cargill doing crop spraying, and Ison Oil delivering propane, cement, and fuel. Albert also had a side septic-truck business serving customers in the Washington and Yuma counties.

Albert grew up helping his folks on the family farm. He learned the value of hard work early in caring for the Black Angus cattle and chickens, watering a grove of trees by hand that was being grown for a windbreak, stacking a lot of hay bales, and many more tasks. He enjoyed riding his horse to bring the cattle into the corral at the end of the day.

Albert's interests also included woodworking, playing music with his guitar and singing, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying visits with his children and grandchildren.

Albert married his high school sweetheart, Carol Jones, on December 15, 1968, at the Bethel Union Church near Anton, Colorado. Michael Duane Travis joined their family in 1969.

Albert's family was further enlarged with the birth of Jennifer Ann Travis to Albert and Leslie Scholes in 1983.

Albert married Melinda Wojciechowski on October 13, 1989. Robert Shawn Travis joined their family in 1995.

Albert is survived by his children: Michael Duane Travis of Juneau, Alaska; Jennifer Ann Travis of Cunningham, Kansas; and Robert Shawn Travis and wife, Alexandria, of Brush, Colorado. He is survived by grandchildren: Skylar Rae Ann Herrera, Ashton Pierce Herrera, Taylor Jade Herrera, Jordana Rose Herrera, Jenson Michael McCoy, Jamieson Parker McCoy, Olivia Grace Travis, and Maddison Rose Travis.

Albert is also survived by his siblings and spouses: Zelda and Kevin Emmert of Dallas, Oregon; Donna and Nathanael Brown of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Colleen and Rocky Johnson of Anton, Colorado; foster-brother Albert and Ellen Figueroa; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Travis, and his wife, Melinda Wojciechowski.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at the Anton Bethel Union Church located at 26051 County Road 17, Akron, CO 80720.  The service will begin at 12:00 noon with a lunch provided following the service.  A procession of semi-trucks and motorcycles will complete the service in honor of Albert following the lunch ending at Elba.  All are welcome to join.
