Obituary

Alberta M. Hammer, 81, a Brush resident for the past 49 years, passed away early Sunday, September 23, 2007, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. She was born May 23, 1926, in Morganville, KS, to Axel & Louise Johnson. Following graduation from high school, Alberta attended Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie, TX. She later moved to Denver where she met David C. Hammer and married him on May 24, 1958. The Hammer family has lived in Brush since that time. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God. She enjoyed music and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking & cooking, sewing and quilting and make pillows out of old blue jeans. Survivors include her children, Daveta Grigson of Evans, CO, Delbert, Sheldon and Jeff all of Brush; 2 sisters, Ailene Hanson of Clay Center, KS and Dorothy Johnson of Brush; and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Assembly of God, 1012 Eaton Street in Brush. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Alberta Hammer Memorial Fund c/o Heer Mortuary
