Alexander Herbst, 91, Life long Morgan County resident, died Monday at the Winslow Court Assisted Living Center in Colorado Springs. He was born July 4, 1917 in Brush to Jacob and Katherine (Arndt) Herbst. He married Marie McDowell August 15, 1939 in Ft. Morgan. They have made Ft. Morgan there home up until November of last year when they moved to Colorado Springs to be close to their son Gary. Alexander worked for the City of Ft. Morgan as a supervisor for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking care of his yard. He is survived by his wife Marie, and his son Gary both of Peyton, 1 brother, Bob Herbst of Brush, and 2 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Leona and Katherine, 3 brothers, Fred, Jake, and John and his parents. A Funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
