ALFRED C. "AL" GROSHOLZ, 88, of Fort Morgan, died Sunday evening, December 14, 2008 at the North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit in Greeley. He was born July 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles F. & Marian (Gilbert) Grosholz. After attending high school he served in the U.S. Army, touring in North Africa, Sicily, Malta and Italy. Al married Wynelle Williams on January 18, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN. After his military service he was employed by the U.S. Air Force Reserves Records Department as a civilian and transferred to Denver in 1954. In 1956 Al started working for A.G. Eaker's Department Store in Golden and was promoted to the Fort Morgan store as manager in 1958. In 1977 he and his wife opened the Grosholz Frame Shop & Gallery. Al took great pride in his framing and art work. Mr. Grosholz was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. He was also a member of the Optimist Club, V.F.W. Post 2551, Disabled American Veterans and the Professional Framers Organization. In his younger years he enjoyed roller skating and ice skating. He and his wife loved to dance. Al also enjoyed fishing, and he loved going to the beach in Florida in the summer time. He was an excellent story teller. Al is survived by his wife Nelle Grosholz of Fort Morgan; three daughters, Jan Clark (Dave) of Greeley, Patt Buxman (John) of Eustis, FL, and Deborah Hinton (Chuck) of Chester, VA; his sister, Sara Lalli of North Port, FL; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles F. Grosholz Jr.; and his granddaughter, Kerry Anne Michael. A memorial service will be Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church. Private Interment will be in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be made to Music & Drama Department at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.
