Obituary

Alice Ververs, age 103, passed away October 23, 2021 at the Harmony Home Assisted Care with Hospice in Fort Morgan. She was born January 14, 1918 in Du Quoin, IL to William and Olga Rogers.

She attended schools in Du Quoin and after graduation from high school, she attended Brown's Business College at Centralia, Illinois. In August of 1937 she married Paul Ververs. Alice worked at Centralia Building and Loan until they moved to Colorado Springs. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1954 where Alice worked in an office at the Fort Morgan Hospital. Later she worked as a dental assistant.

Alice enjoyed playing golf, bowling and belonged to several bridge clubs. She enjoyed family trips to the Rocky Mountains, fishing and staying in cabins. Paul and Alice traveled to Hawaii and they met relatives in Belgium while traveling to Europe. In their early retirement they took their motor home and boat, and spent winters in Texas, fishing.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands; Paula & Tom Yost of Fresno, CA, and Donna & Wayne Smith and Vicki & Doak Duke, all of Fort Morgan; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and 1 great great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; two brothers, Victor and Ernest; and one grandson, David Smith.

Family and friends celebrated Alice's life on her 100 th birthday with a party in her honor. She remained alert and kept her memory. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday.
