Obituary

Alva L. Wiley, Sr. 79 died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at his home in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He was born July 18, 1927 in Fairfax, Missouri to Ova Ben and Zeta Marie Wiley. He married Janie Josephine (Fletchall) Wiley on August 30, 1945 in Troy, Kansas. Alva worked on a farm in Fairfax, Missouri before moving to Edgerton, Wyoming to work in the oil field. The family moved to Fort Morgan in 1954. Alva worked 35 years for Allison Drilling Company as a truck driver and truck foreman. In August of 1985, he was presented with a bronze plaque, "In Recognition of Dedicated And Loyal Service" at the Company's 75th Anniversary celebration at the truck yards in Fort Morgan. Alva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Morgan, serving on the deacon board and as an usher for many years. He is survived by his wife Janie of Fort Morgan and his seven children; Janie Marie Hubbell, W. Joy Erickson, Alva L. Wiley Jr., Jack Ben and John Paul, all of Fort Morgan; Joseph Lynn of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jerry Dean of Portland, OR. He is also survived by two brothers Dean and Marvin of Missouri and one sister Unes Marie Groennap of Omaha, NE; 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Nellie Jean, sister Irene Adkins, and brothers Ora Ben Wiley Jr. and Billy Melvin. The family will receive friends at the visitation on Friday evening, 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan. A memorial service will be held on Monday February 12, at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens. Memorial gifts may be given in Alva's name to the First Baptist Church.
