ALYCE LILLIAN GROVES, 79, longtime area resident, died early Friday morning, June 5, 2009 at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. She was born September 9, 1929 in Marmarth, North Dakota to Allen & Lillian (Holmes) Davis. She graduated from Manual Training High School in Denver in 1947. She married Jess Groves Jr. in Derby, CO on November 23, 1958. She moved to Fort Morgan when they married. The family later moved to Orchard. Mrs. Groves enjoyed taking care of her home, cooking, and caring for other people. She also liked music and especially enjoyed reading scripture. Survivors include two sons, Pat Groves of Orchard and Mike Groves of Weldona; two daughters, DebraAnn Ferguson and Dawn Gerken, both of Fort Morgan; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Joy Groves; her son, GaryAllen Groves; two sisters, Elaine Kennison and Dixie Grippin; and her parents. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 9th at 10:30 AM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel, 225 E. Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
