Amelia Rocha Guevara, a long-time resident of the Fort Morgan area, passed away on Saturday the 21st of May. Amelia was Born in 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX and resided in Crystal City, TX. She lived in this area until she met her husband, Julio Arista Guevara. Amelia and Julio married in Mexico on October 8th 1965. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past October 2015. She lived in several states before making Fort Morgan, Colorado her home.
Amelia is preceded in death by her parents, Feliberto and Encaracion Rocha; as well as her brother, Elloy Rocha. She is survived by her husband, Julio; their children, Julio Guevara Jr, Robert Guevara and wife Tausha, Ruben Guevara and wife Thelma; and her beloved daughter, Aliza (Krissy) Guevara. Amelia also leaves behind two sisters, Virginia Lazaro and her husband Bernardino, and Ma/Dolores Villalpando and her husband Raynaldo; her brothers, Ruben Rocha and wife Hilde, Henry Rocha and wife Ana will grieve their loss as well. Amelia leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Amelia drove a school bus and worked with disabled citizens in Morgan and Weld County. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She cherished family above all else. Amelia loved a good garage sale, collected tea pots and enjoyed playing loteria. Amelia was a sweet and loving woman. She believed strongly in her Christian faith and walked throughout her life with Jesus. Her passing will be felt by many who have loved and been loved deeply by her but they have great comfort in knowing Amelia is now an angel watching over them as she rests peacefully in Heaven.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 26th from 4 -6 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 27th , also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
