Angelita P. Torrez, 75, life resident of the Brush community, passed away Monday, January 04, 2010, in Denver, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 31, 1934, in Brush, to Santos & Celsa Guzman. On December 1, 1951, Angelita married Margarito Torrez in Brush. Angelita enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking. Her favorite pastime was spent being with her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Margarito, of Brush; 3 children, Amalia Hayes of Denver, Cecilia Berg of Brush, and Jamie Torrez of Elk Point, SD; 7 sisters, Marlene Acosta, and Rose Guzman both of Brush; Bea Carillo and Aurelia Lopez both of Colorado Springs; Jenny Mejia of Sterling, CO, Gloria Guzman and Virginia Rosales both of Greeley; 5 brothers, Nate Guzman of Denver, Robert Guzman and Santos Guzman Jr. both of Brush, Frank Guzman and Benjamin Guzman both of Brighton, CO; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Florentino and Florenz, and her parents. Rosary service will be Wednesday at 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 340 Stanford Street in Brush. Funeral mass will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
