Ann Derby passed away quietly in the early morning hours of April 25, 2018 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center, in Fort Morgan, CO.  She was surrounded by her loving family and many adoring friends who comforted her during her final days.

Ann was preceded in death by her father Harry Leigh Derby Jr., (Harry was killed in the Pacific Theatre near the end of World War II and was posthumously awarded the purple heart for his heroic efforts defending our country) mother Mary Katherine Derby, half-brother Harry L. Derby III, nephew Russ Graham and her beloved daughter Mary Ann Hatfield.

She is survived by her sons Stephen and Doug Hatfield, daughter in law Chelsea Turano Hatfield, grandchildren Caitlin and Christina Hatfield, Curtis Boswell, Josh Guido, sister Lynn Graham and nephews Tom, Peter and Phillip Graham, ex-daughter in law Kay Bartles Step-granddaughter Mundy Jamison three step-great grandchildren (Randi-Rae, Natasha, Jordon) and one step great, great grandson Rex.

Ann was born in Evanston, IL on July 27,1938. Following the death of her father in 1945 her mother moved her and her sister Lynn to Dayton, OH where Ann would eventually attend Oakwood High School where she met Dale Hatfield who was her first husband and father of her three children.

Ann and Dale moved to Boulder, CO in 1963, to raise their family. Ann brought with her her love for horses which commenced at an early age at the Skytop Lodge in the Poconos where every summer she would spend endless hours riding and attending to her horse. Her fondness of horses and dogs were passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Ann had many other passions as well, including playing Bridge, doing crafts, hosting holiday dinners, attending the annual Western Stock Show and watching the Colorado Buffalos and the Denver Broncos to name a few. Ann loved to throw a party and always made sure to let everyone know that her home was open to any and all. Ann had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life and there are countless stories of her taking in those who needed a helping hand.

Ann spent her last three years living in Fort Morgan with her son Stephen while she recovered from a multitude of health issues.  Ann's love of life and her ability to connect to people were quickly felt in Ft. Morgan where she met many new friends. In particular, Ann had a special bond with Jessica Garret who provided her with loving and compassionate in-home care. Jessica was never far away and was at Ann's bed side when she passed. We were blessed to have Jessica on her team and we will be forever grateful to her.

A celebration of Ann's life will be held on Saturday May 5th at 11am at the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, 350 Main St, Broomfield, CO. There will be a reception at the Church right after the ceremony followed by a gathering at Mudrock's Tap & Tavern, 585 E South Boulder Rd, Louisville, CO 80027 to watch the running of the Kentucky Derby Please wear your Kentucky Derby party attire.  Ann loved the Kentucky Derby and we could not think of a more fitting way to conclude her celebration of life.
