Ann Wilson, 91, of Fort Morgan, passed away on December 11, 2022, with a big worn-out heart that always saw the good in people.

Ann was born in Olney, Illinois in 1931, the only child of Guy and Lura Lough.  She married Gene Wilson in 1949 and they were blessed to fulfill their dream of moving to Colorado in 1956.  She and Gene had 2 children, Lynn and David, and although they constantly challenged her grace and gave her many gray hairs, she loved them unfailingly and was always unconditionally supportive.

Ann had a passion for everything home, and after working at Great Western Sugar in the accounting department for a number of years, she became a real estate broker and started her own real estate firm in 1985, Trendmaker Realty.  Ann was artistically talented, had her own decorative mosaic tile and stained glass business, sold furniture and flooring and was also an interior decorator.

Ann had a real zest for living, was always on the go, always willing to help, and always giving.  She had a very adventurous spirit and was up for anything at any time. Together she and Gene and their family enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., especially exploring every square inch of Colorado's many treasures, their favorite place being Dillon.

She was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and PEO, and was a devoted member of her church, St. Charles Episcopal.  She was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed fishing, good food and good music.  And she loved horse racing; her mother wrote in Ann's baby book that Ann's first words were "Whoa Horsie."  Saturdays were always devoted to chores around the house, but on the first Saturday in May, much to the shock and astonishment of her children, she was found to be sitting at the kitchen table listening intently to the race call of the Kentucky Derby.

No matter how complicated the question, Ann always had an innately simple but wise answer.  She was quietly elegant, very strong and had a great sense of humor.  She was well-loved because she loved well and played her own part in the healing of this world.  She was a kind and beautiful soul, and those who knew her and loved her will never stop missing her.

So, please read a good book in her honor.  Or get together with family and friends and have a piece of butterscotch pie.  Or a glass of wine, maybe even two.  She would like that.

Ann was also quite passionate about the outstanding local museum; memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation and Museum (P.O. Box 184, Fort Morgan, CO  80701).
