Obituary

Anna Marie was born September 20, 1939 to Jacob and Pauline Bickert in the old Eben-Ezer hospital in Brush, CO.  She grew up on a farm south of Brush and attended grade school in the country at the Gary School.  She attended high school in Brush, graduating on May 30, 1957.  Ann passed away on August 30 th , 2022, at Devonshire Acres in Sterling, CO.

Ann married Russell Griggs on December 15, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillrose, CO.  Russ and Ann made their home in Hillrose, farming and raising their three children.  The family attended the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, where Ann was a longtime member.  Russ and Ann sold the family farm in 2019 and moved to Sterling.

Ann enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her yard, which was always beautiful.  She successfully transplanted and maintained a start of a Peony, from her parent's farmstead, at each place she and Russ lived.  A start from that Peony is alive and well at their current residence today.  Ann was also an accomplished cook, baker and quilter.  She made hundreds of heirloom quilts and blessed all of her children and grandchildren with those beautiful patches, stitched together with love.  Ann also had a very special way with young children and animals and both were always drawn to her.  She was a cherished and admired member of her family and she will be greatly missed

Ann is survived by her husband, Russ, of Sterling, CO, a sister, Eleanor Tormohlen of Lake Orion, MI, a sister-in-law, Deb Griggs of Brush, CO, a daughter, Cheryl (Terry) Jensen of Panhandle, TX, two sons, Ron (Jeanne) of Hastings, NE and Mark (Barb) of Sundance, WY.  Surviving grandchildren are Kevin (Jamie) Jensen of Magnolia, TX, Lindsay (Tony) Josh of Yuma, CO, Russ Griggs of Yuma, CO, Drake Linscott of Hastings, NE and Katie (Micah) Selting of Sundance, WY.  Ann is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Krissi and LeLynn Josh of Yuma, CO and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Pauline Bickert, parents-in-law, Clyde and Thelma Griggs, sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Martha Hubbard, brother-in-law, Ed Tormohlen, brother-in-law, Billy Griggs and granddaughter, Torrie Griggs.

Cremation has taken place and per Ann's request, a private memorial service for family will be held at a later date.  Anyone wishing to send cards of condolences, may send them in care of Russ Griggs, 14581 Blue Stem, Sterling, CO  80751.  Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ann's memory, may do so to a charity or organization of their choice.
