Anna Marie
Hutcheson
Jul 17, 1926 — Oct 17, 2023
Anna Marie was born at Albany Township, Berks, County, PA to Paul Leroy and Bertha Elizabeth (Howerter) Trexler. She was the 3rd of five children with four brothers and she was also the only girl of 13 cousins. She grew up in Shillington, PA during the depression and spent her life reminiscing about the good life and fun she had growing up in Shillington despite the hard life during the depression. She especially loved sledding down a hill close to their house, the school dances and recalled going to the movie house where they would get a free Hershey bar.
After high school graduation, she attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing as a "Cadet" nursing student. The government paid for her education with the expectation that she would serve in the military following graduation. However, the war ended before she graduated so she didn't need to serve. Following her graduation, at the urging of her mother and aunt Ann, she traveled to Brush, Colorado where she worked with her uncle, Paul Hildebrand, M.D., as his office nurse. It was shortly after moving to Brush that she met James D. Hutcheson when a friend encouraged him to invite "Hildy's new nurse" to the New Year's Eve dance. She accepted, and that began a lifelong love affair. "Jim" and Anna Marie were married on February 6, 1949. To that union four daughters were born: Beth Ann Pabst, Rebecca Kay Hutcheson, Deloris Adele Nyberg, and Sally Jo Hutcheson. Sadness gripped Jim and Anna Marie when they discovered that Sally Jo was profoundly developmentally disabled. In order to provide their other children with what they needed to live "more normal" lives, they made the painful decision to move Sally Jo to Ridge, the state home and training school where Sally Jo lived for the remainder of her life.
Anna Marie worked for a few short years at the Eben Ezer Hospital, but the great majority of her career was as an office nurse at the Brush Clinic, which she greatly loved. Following her retirement, she took blood pressures at the Bank of Colorado. This she also loved because she was able to see and visit people, something that characterized Anna Marie. She loved to be with and help people. Jim and Anna Marie enjoyed a full and fun life with many close friends with whom they shared many cherished experiences. She also enjoyed playing bridge, golf, walking with her friends, and was a member of the Brush United Methodist Church, P.E.O, Chapter T, and Bunker Hill Country Club. Jim and Anna Marie spent many years delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. While Anna Marie loved Brush and all their friends there, she always maintained a special place in her heart for her beloved Shillington, PA.
Anna Marie was proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Bertha Trexler, her husband, Jim "J.D." Hutcheson, her daughters Sally Jo, and Del, her granddaughter, Katie Mohrlang, and her brothers David, Daniel, & Samual Trexler and their wives. She is survived by her daughters Beth Ann Pabst (John), Becky Hutcheson (Harold Anderson), Son-in-law Brian Nyberg, her brother James Trexler, Grandchildren Brian Pabst (Kim), Heather Pabst, Sonia Mohrlang, Erik Mohrlang, great grandchildren Mandy Zwetzig, Kalianne Renton, Raeann Rothgery, Allison Pabst, and several great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Brush United Methodist Church at 1701 Edmunds St., Brush, CO 80723 or to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org in memory of Anna Marie.
Services will be held at the Brush United Methodist Church at a date to be determined.
