Annie J.
Rodriquez
Oct 11, 1951 — Aug 27, 2020
Brush
On August 27, 2020, Annie Rodriquez was 68 years old when her soul went to be reborn with the lord and granted new and enduring strength for an eternity after a battle with cancer.
Annie was born on October 11, 1951 in Brush, CO to Guadalupe and Tomas Flores. She was raised in Brush and was the oldest of her four sisters Joann Cordova, Debbie Gallivan, and Lisa Yoakum. Annie married Richard Rodriquez on August 8, 1970 and moved to St. Paul Minnesota for a year and then returned to Brush where they settled; together they had three children: Tommy (1971), Nathan (1979), and Sarah (1981). Annie and Richard were able to renew their 50th wedding anniversary vows on August 8, 2020.
Annie worked at East Morgan County hospital for two years after getting married, and then took time off until Nathan and Sarah entered elementary school. She then worked for the Brush Public School District, and eventually went into providing adult host home care for persons with developmental disabilities. Annie helped establish the MASH unit in 1990 when Desert Storm kicked off with some area mother's whose children were deployed to Desert Shield/Storm.
Annie was a life-long devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Annie was a matriarch of her immediate and extended family whom lived local and afar. Her biggest strength was that she was there when family had a need, sometimes at the detriment of her own. She loved garage saling with her mom, sisters, and other family when she could. She couldn't pass up a bargain, and even if it was a bargain, she couldn't resist bartering for a lower price. Her food specialties among her children, and often their friends growing up, were her enchiladas and chicken mole. Her Spanish rice was also bomb. Annie's kind heart and outspokenness will be memories that will be remembered for lifetime for those that knew her.
Annie is survived by her husband, Richard Rodriquez of Brush; children, Tommy Rodriquez and Charmagne Ainsley of Arvada, and Sarah Rodriquez of Brush. She is also survived by her father and step mother, Tom & Marylou Flores; and one sister, Joann Cordova, all of Brush, and seven grandchildren; Alysa Rodriquez (15) and Deja Aldama (18) of Ft. Morgan, Nathan Rodriquez Jr. (12) of El Paso TX, Sofia Rodriquez (5) of Brush, and Taylor (21), Lauren (18), and Madison Ainsley (16) of Arvada. Annie adored her grand-girls and grandson and took pride in their activities and accomplishments. The same can also be said for all of Annie's nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She loved them all so much from near and afar. She will be their guardian angel in their lifetimes.
Annie was preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe Flores (1993), her son Nathan (2012), and sisters, Debbie Gallivan (2018), and Lisa Yoakum (2019).
