Obituary

Arthur A. Maxwell was born in Alma, Michigan in 1950 to Lloyd Maxwell and Joyce Garberson.

Art and his family lived with their paternal grandfather, who was a pharmacist, in St. Louis, Michigan with an outhouse and attended a one room school from 1st-8th grade.

Art attended Michigan Technological University and upon graduation went to work for Schlumberger Well Services in the Middle East as a petroleum engineer. He traveled extensively while overseas,

Art met Kim Maxwell in 1982 while both worked for Schlumberger in Wichita, KS. After dating for only six months, Art was then transferred to Fort Morgan to manage the Schlumberger district.  They continued to date long distance until Kim was transferred to the Schlumberger division office in downtown Denver in 1983.  Although Kim suggested it might be a good time to get married, Art wasn't sure they knew each other well enough.

Finally, Kim decided it was time to make a commitment and they were married in Dallas, TX on November 15, 1986.

Art and Kim were ready to start a family and had Hunter on January 1, 1991, and Graham on December 8, 1992, during a blizzard. They enjoyed snow skiing, visiting Lake Texoma, trips to Mexico with family and watching his boys play many sports while attending Fort Morgan schools.

Art was active at the Fort Morgan United Methodist church on the finance committee and spent many years helping with the lighting crew for many plays.

Art was preceded in death by both parents and younger brother, Roger.  He is survived by Kim, Hunter (Jessica) of Crossroads, TX; Graham of Colorado Springs; and niece and nephews Justin (Jennifer) Maxwell of Elizabeth, CO; Jordan Thompson of Dallas, TX; Audrey (John) Burks of Dallas, TX; Cole (Lindsey) Thompson of Frisco, TX and Connor (Kearci) Thompson of Irvine, CA.

Services will be held Monday, May 20th at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm.

Donations can be made to the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church or the Fort Morgan Humane Society.
