Arthur Norman Winkler Jr., 71, lifelong area resident, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Arthur was born September 29, 1938 in Ft. Morgan to Arthur and Lucy (Ellis) Winkler Sr. Arthur graduated from Ft. Morgan high school in 1957. While in high school he played football, wrestled and ran track. After graduation Arthur began working with his father at the City of Ft. Morgan and after that the American Beef Packers, Canfield Drilling, Sterling Beef/Cargill and lately was a greeter at Wal-Mart, where he enjoyed being around and conversing with people. Arthur retired from Wal-Mart in 2010 due to ill health. Arthur also received an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Morgan Community College. In his spare time he volunteered for SHARE in the food bank. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and archery in his earlier years, but computers were his passion. Survivors include his wife Danette Winkler, three daughters, Tamara Chapman of Brush, Joleigh Doudy of Brighton and Deb Carlock of Ft. Morgan, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Memorial Services will be Friday, July 30, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts in Arthur's name in Care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
