Audrey J. Wentz, 92, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born October 24, 1915, in New Castle, CO, to Edward Brent & Bessie Rachel Jordan. She graduated from New Castle High School and attended college at Denver University and later Colorado A & M (CSU). While attending CSU, Audrey met Floyd D. Wentz, and married him August 16, 1937, in Fort Collins. The Wentz family first lived in Big Fork, MT, until Floyd entered the US Army during WW II. While stationed state-side, the Wentz family lived on several military bases. When Floyd was in Europe Audrey and her daughter, LaRue, lived in Newcastle. After his discharge, the Wentz family moved to Greeley. In 1973 they moved to Fort Morgan. Audrey enjoyed gardening, reading, needlepoint, and ceramics. She spent many years as the bookkeeper for the Episcopal Church Thrift Store. Survivors include her daughter, LaRue of New Castle, CO, and Doug of LaSalle, CO; 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, who passed in February, 1988; 1 brother, 1 sister, and her parents. At Audrey's request, no service will be held.
