Barbara Kathleen Hawes passed away peacefully in Fort Morgan, Colorado on April 09, 2024, at the age of 94. Barb was born January 16, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Hugh Fred Carpenter and Christina Velva (Peck) Carpenter.

On May 27, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Nebraska, Barb married Ronny Dean Hawes of Persia, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Fort Morgan, making it their lifelong home, raising six children.

Barb worked many years alongside Ron on their farm south of Fort Morgan. Upon "retiring" from farming, they moved to town and purchased FAY LEE FABICS and she enjoyed many more years sharing her passion and creativity with the community. Barb was an excellent seamstress, and her services were well known. When people spoke of Barb, the word used most often was ''sweet". She was loved by all who met her.

Barb devoted her life to Gods teachings and was faithful to His Word.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children Dennis (Connie)Hawes; Marilynn (Ken)Dalton; Eldon (Karen)Hawes; Crystal (Stan)Ramey; her sister-in-law Joyce Martens (W.Va.); 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and siblings Shirley Griffee (MO.); Karen Brown (IA.) and Jerry (Dee) Carpenter (Ft. Morgan, CO). Barb was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ron of 72 years; two sons, Harlynn and Kevin Hawes; one sister Bonnie Winberg; and one grandson Brent Hawes.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 16th at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
