Obituary

Barbara Gay Linker passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022.  She was born April 14, 1939 in Effingham, Illinois to Kenneth and Waide Wood.  With her father working in the oil fields, they moved to where the work was.  She attended 13 different schools growing up.  After living in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and Wyoming, the family ended up in Sterling, where Barbara finished her schooling.

In the fall of 1960, Barbara met the love of her life, Henry "Hank" Linker, at The Quirt in Brush. They were married January 13, 1961 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Arvada. Together they raised two children on the farm in Hillrose.  After retirement, Barbara and Hank moved into Brush in 1997. Barbara also worked for 22 years for Rocky Mountain Flagging (owned by Shirley and Mona Bodaness).

Barbara's faith was very important to her.  She was raised Baptist.  After her marriage to Hank, she became Lutheran and was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush.

Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved attending her children's and grandchildren's music events and supporting whatever sports team they were on. She also enjoyed CU football, the Denver Broncos, and Colorado Rockies.  She loved playing cards (especially bridge), fishing in Saratoga Wyoming, dancing, sewing, traveling, and gardening.

Survivors include her two children, Jody (Linker) Halvorson (Shawn) of Brush, and Terry Linker (Cindy Lefever) of Hillrose, 6 grandchildren, Lauren (Linker) Allmaras (Aaron), Jared Halvorson (Lara), Jayme Linker, Coree (Linker) Kane (Hal), Suzanne Halvorson, and Isaac Linker, 6 great-grandchildren, brothers Ken Wood (Maryann) of Mesa, Arizona and Stephen Wood (Rebecca) of Rogers, Arkansas, sister-in-law Beva Linker, and numerous nieces and nephews.
