Barbara Jean Rusch, 84, of Fort Morgan, joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on February 10, 2015. She was born to Jake and Lottie Hein on March 2, 1930 on a farm southwest of Culbertson, Nebraska. The Hein family came to Fort Morgan in 1945. Barbara graduated from Fort Morgan High School. She was employed by The Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for several years. She was married to John Robert Rusch on February 10, 1952 at the Christ Congregational Church. Together, they worked to build their farming operation. Barbara quit her job so she could stay at home and raise their three children. She enjoyed farm life to it's fullest and loved to help in the fields. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening, fancy needle work, and made many beautiful wall hangings. She loved to read and write. Barbara was an excellent cook. She kept many traditions from her German heritage alive through the meals she cooked. She was kind to everyone she greeted and many that never knew her name, knew her smile. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Robert of Fort Morgan;son, John Randal Rusch and his wife, Becky; daughter, Lorri Schlueter and David Cobb, son Mark Rusch and his wife, Annette all of Fort Morgan. Her grandchildren were especially important to her. Kendra Azevedo and husband, Randy of Fort Morgan; Jill Brownell and her husband, Craig of Sterling, Matthew Rusch and fiance, Chelsea of Greeley, James Brandon Schlueter, Jason Rusch and Samantha Rusch and Todd Swanson , of Fort Morgan. Great Grandchildren, Derek and Alison Swanson of Fort Morgan and Ethan Brownell of Sterling. Barbara is also survived by one brother, Lavern Hein and his wife, Charlene of Lakewood, CO. Barbara always felt blessed to have such a large and loving family of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, extended family and loyal, lifetime friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son in law, Jim Schlueter. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Friday, February 13th from 4 - 6 PM. A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 14th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium. A memorial - has been established in Barbara's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church or memorials may be made to The Morgan Adams Foundation and sent to 5303 E. Evans Ave., Denver, CO 80222. Please indicate in honor of her grandson, James Brandon Schlueter. The Morgan Adams Foundation provides funding for very important research being done in Denver for pediatric brain tumors, making huge strides for better treatments and patient outcome.
