Barbara Louise Winkler

Barbara Louise (Watson) Winkler, of Brush CO, died September 2, 2026, with family by her side. She was 89. 

Born October 30, 1936 in Houston TX to Thomas Grady Watson and Jewell A (Bradshaw) Watson, she moved with her family to New Mexico at the age of seven and went on to graduate in 1955 from Los Alamos High School in Los Alamos NM. She then moved to Denver CO, where she met George Winkler through a mutual acquaintance. Barbara and George married March 27, 1958 in Denver and made their home in Brush, where they raised their four children. 

Barbara was a homemaker and stayed busy at it. She found joy in tending her flower gardens, sending cards and leters, holiday baking, Sunday drives, and excursions to the beautful Rocky Mountains. In her later years, she enjoyed reading newspapers and lifestyle magazines, collecting recipes and watching her favorite daytime programs. Although quiet and reserved, Barbara loved visiting with her family. She especially enjoyed atending the actvites of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and chatting with the ladies at the beauty shop every Friday. Her final years were spent living peacefully at home with her devoted daughter and caregiver, Barb Frahm. She’ll be remembered for her kind nature and cheerful demeanor. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a beloved granddaughter; and siblings, Ida Phares, Bill Watson, Maggie Parker and Tom Watson Jr. 

Surviving her are her children, Jeff Winkler of Palm Springs CA, Jeri Scheere and husband Dwayne of Tucson AZ, Barbara Frahm of Brush, and Mike Winkler of Fort Morgan; seven cherished grandchildren and their spouses; sixteen great-grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren. She’s also survived by her younger sister, Donna Dobias and husband Dick of Tucson AZ; and several nieces and nephews. 

A private family memorial will be held at a later date, followed by inurnment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
