Obituary

Ben Johnson, 91, of Fort Morgan, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the emergency room at Colorado Plains Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1921, in Campo, CO, to Frederic & Florence Johnson. Ben served in the US Army during WW II. While serving in the US Army, Ben was an aircraft mechanic. After his discharge, Ben farmed in the Gary, CO, community. He loved working on his farm. Later Ben worked for Green Brothers Cement Company until he retired. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads. He was a member of VFW #2551. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Fort Morgan; 6 daughters, Bennie (Jim) Gertge and Bonnie (Albert) Teter both of Brush, Karen Miller of Lafayette, CO, Colleen Daley of Denver, Donna Palasty and Elaine Roth both of Fort Morgan, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, and 2 brothers. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 28, at 10:30 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Military honors will be provided by the US Army and VFW #2551. The service will conclude at the mortuary. Visitation will be at the Heer Chapel on Sunday from 2 – 4 PM. Inurnment will be in the Serenity Falls Columbarium at a later date.
