Anderson

Bernice was 99 years old and passed peacefully on October 21, 2016 with the wonderful care of Eben Ezer Luthern Care Center.
Bernice Katherine (Tenney) Anderson was born to Daniel and Bertha Tenney in Omaha, NE on June 16, 1917. The family relocated to Sterling, CO when Bernice was 6 years old. Dan moved his daughter to Merino, CO in 1930 to open a barber shop.
Merino is where she met and married her husband Ike Anderson on February 14, 1935. Dear friend Bob Ladd introduced Ike & Bernice. They started their lives together in Merino and soon moved to the High Plains area of Logan County. At the High Plains they spent wonderful memories with great friends Dan and Putt Lowen. Bernice and Ike then moved their family of six daughters and one son to the Steamboat/Clark CO area where their last son was born. Bernice and Ike formed great friendships from Steamboat/Clark with Forest and Ruth Warren and Angelo and Helen Iacovetto. They moved back to Merino in 1964.
Bernice was a member of the Merino United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Williard Ladies Pinochle Club and really enjoyed playing pitch and pinochle with anyone that would play. Bernice was an excellent cook. You were always invited and welcome to share a wonderful meal with her and family. Bernice loved flowers and the entire beautiful garden that surrounded her.
She always especially enjoyed visits and lunches with her longtime friend Carol Gill. Bernice always looked forward to visits from her niece JoAnne (Tenney) Reffalt and acquired daughter Barb Hudspeth. Dear friends from Denver Art and Ruth Polumbo who they enjoyed fishing and spending special time with. Ike and Bernice spent a lot of time playing cards and working with dear friends Glenn & Alice Sessions.
Bernice was preceded in death by the love of her life Ike, her parents Daniel and Bertha Tenney, brother Bob Tenney, daughter Karen Matthews, sons in law Pat Barber, Tim Petersen and Terry Ackerson, grandsons Greg Laybourn, Steven Muirhead and Todd Petersen and great granddaughters, Samantha and Rebecca Lewis.
