Bernice M. Gies, 89, former Fort Morgan resident, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in Riverside, CA. She was born March 14, 1920, in Fort Morgan, to Leo & Anna Pearl Richie. Bernice graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1938. On June 18, 1938, Bernice married Adam Gies. Prior to retirement, Bernice worked as Sherman School in the cafeteria and at Alco. She was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church, serving with the Altar & Rosary Society. She also was active with SHARE, and AARP. Bernice moved to Riverside CA in September, 1998. Survivors include 1 daughter, Judy Ringo, and her husband Gary, of Riverside, CA; 1 daughter-in-law, Carol Eifling- Gies of Idahol Falls, ID; 2 granddaughters, Jacqueline Trimble of Riverside, CA, and Jennifer Ringo-Saenz of Burbank, CA; and 3 great grandchildren, Nicholas Trimble, Alina Saenz and Spencer Saenz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam; 1 son, William Adam Gies; 2 sisters, Percy Zambo and Mary Roskop; 1 brother, Bud Richie; and her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 5, 2010, at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
