Bette Rose Paynter, 81, longtime area resident died, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her home in Brush. Bette was born July 31, 1926 in Joliet, Illinois to John and Blanche (Rose) Connors. She married Stanley B. Paynter on October 5, 1951. Bette was a member of the Brush United Methodist Church. She was also a member of PEO Chapter T, served two terms on the Library Board and was a volunteer for Caring Ministries. She enjoyed puzzles, was an avid reader and loved nature. Survivors include her husband Stan of Brush, two daughters, Carol Paynter Portuese of Brush and Joan Guzman and husband Izzy of Frederick, five grandchildren, Rico and Ramon Portuese, Beth, Nikki and Jill Guzman and two great grandchildren, Isaac and Isabelle Guzman. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Bob Connors. Memorial Services for Mrs. Paynter will be Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Brush United Methodist Church. Services will conclude at the church. Memorial gifts may be given to Morgan County Hospes, or to the Brush United Methodist Church. The Heer Mortuary in Brush is in charge of the arrangements.
