Betty
Castor
Oct 20, 1927 — Jul 25, 2021
Fort Morgan
Betty Jean Ford Castor was born to Ralph Ford and Bertha Gunthert Ford on October 20, 1927 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Sterling Colorado. She passed away on July 25, 2021 at the Valley View Villa Care Center at the age of 93.
Betty was raised on a ranch northeast of Stoneham and attended school in Stoneham until fifth grade. In 1938 the family moved to a ranch five miles south of Buckingham and Betty graduated from Buckingham School in 1945. She was working at a telephone company in Greeley when she married Delbert Castor on February 14, 1950. They bought a home south of Buckingham, a mile southeast of where she spent part of her childhood, and raised four children on the farm near Buckingham. In 1978 they built a home near Ft. Morgan. Due to poor health, Betty spent a considerable amount of time near the front range at various health facilities and spent the last five years at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan.
Betty particularly enjoyed cooking for all of the family and the hired hands during wheat harvest and cattle drives on the farm. Above all else, the most treasured times in her life were raising her four children and attending her grandchildren's school activities.
Survivors include her children, Mona Castor, Wade (Melody) Castor, Todd (Julie) Castor, and Lori (Rick) Null; her grandchildren, Tara (Chad) Stevens, Misty (Johnny) Ryman, Jessica (Nate) McCorkell, Christine (Blake) Baseggio, JD Castor, Kari (Kyle) Kembel, Kevin Castor (Julie Stiewig), Kraig Castor, Tiffany Null (Ryan Sitterley), and Brittany Null; and her great grandchildren, Benjamin Stevens, Zoey Ryman, Makenzie Ryman, Jana Baseggio, Colt Baseggio, Hailey Kembel, and Rylee Null.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents (Ralph and Bertha Ford), two brothers (John and Joe Ford), and one sister (Bonnie Ford Blair).
A memorial service to honor Betty will be held at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10:00 am with interment at the Ft. Morgan Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Country Steakout in Ft. Morgan after the graveside services.
