Obituary

Betty Sue Dahl, 91, passed peacefully with family at her side on October 2, 2026. She was born in Sioux Rapids, Iowa on June 6, 1935 to parents Arthur Murritt Willard and Marion (Rippe) Willard. She had one sibling, her brother Arthur Marion Willard.

In her younger years she was the organist for her church and nurtured close friendships with her classmates. Her high school class was made up of only 6 students, made up of 3 girls, and 3 boys. And like something out of one of her beloved Hallmark Movies, they all paired up and ended up getting married. This was how she met her husband DJ.

Betty married her high school sweetheart, Dalton J. Dahl on April 7, 1955. They moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1963. She remained in their beloved home for 63 years. Betty and DJ were blessed with five children, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to raising her family, Betty graciously spent her time in a variety of capacities in her community. She proudly worked as a cook in Fort Morgan schools for 25+ years. Her and DJ owned Professional Interiors, an interior design store in Fort Morgan. Betty was a talented seamstress and loved creating beautiful items and spaces.

She spent much of her free time with her family and friends. Even helping drive friends to doctors appointments and the grocery store. Betty loved word search games, and watching Hallmark movies. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. There is no telling how many cabbage pockets and cinnamon rolls she made over the years for her family, friends, and as contributions to local fundraisers.

When they wanted to get away from the city, Betty and DJ would head up to Red Feather Lakes where their family built a cabin. Many hours were spent enjoying the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Betty loved spending time in the mountains. Her grandchildren all have fond memories of the cabin.

Betty is survived by her children Susan (Phil) Lopez of Abilene TX, Dalton J. “Pete” Dahl Jr., Glen (Traci) Dahl, and Mike (Cathy) Dahl of Fort Morgan CO; her grandchildren Stephanie Dudley, Angie Tuck, Amy Green, Lisa Gliem, Curt Dahl, Adam Dahl, Danny Paulson, Misty Paulson, Brittney Scott, Cole Dahl, Brad Dahl, Krysta Goebel, Keri Trout and Kent Bath; her great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many other beloved family members and friends, including her beloved dog, Daisy. Betty‘s legacy will live on through all the lives that she touched.

Betty is now reunited with her beloved husband of 47 years DJ Dahl, her son, Lon Dahl, her great-granddaughter, Lynnie Mae Green, her brother, Arthur, and her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10:30am at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer (1100 W Platte Avenue, Fort Morgan, CO 80701) where Betty was a life-long parishioner. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
