Betty L
Gish
Jan 25, 1946 — Oct 30, 2023
Betty L Gish, Brush CO passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 after a lengthy battle with lung and heart disease. She was born January 25, 1946, to Jeptha and Vera Claflin.
Betty was raised south of Brush in the Gary/Woodrow community and attended Woodlin High School. She married Theadore Gish April 1, 1967, at the Claflin residence. After Ted returned home from serving in the Army, they made their home in Sterling, CO from 1969 to 1977, when they returned to their much loved open plains south of Brush where both lived happily their remaining decades.
Betty was an avid reader, loved playing cards, cooking, crafting, and decorating cakes. She bowled in a number of leagues in Brush and Fort Morgan, and in her younger years, enjoyed playing softball. Betty loved attending family reunions and "battling the critters" for her flower and vegetable gardens. Mostly she cherished every moment spent with her family. She had various jobs over the years, but her most memorable ones included working upstairs at the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge and her career as a CNA at Sunset Manor caring for others.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Theadore; their youngest daughter, Alicia Gish; and siblings, Barbara Cunning, Nancy Harbert, and Joseph Claflin. She is survived by her children, Robert Gish of Brush, Denise (Brett) Bergren of Keller, TX, and Debra (Dave) Hoffman of Fort Morgan; grandchildren, Kirstin Bergren of Dallas, TX, Johnathan Bergren of North Richland Hills, TX, Ryan Hoffman of Fort Morgan, Brandon (Laura) Hoffman of Kersey, CO and Madison Bergren of Keller, TX; and great grandchildren, Keagan Bergren, Camden, Briggs, Kenna, and Crew Hoffman. She is also survived by her siblings, Kathleen (Laurence) Ely of Brush, Lyle Claflin of Boise, ID, Jean Wiltfang of Wray, CO, Wayne (Bobbi) Claflin of Brush, and Pat Turner of Whetstone, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service has been scheduled. A luncheon to celebrate and remember Betty's life will be held on Thursday November 9, 2023 at 11:30am at the Jaycee Building located in the Brush Memorial Park.
