Betty Scherff Goodman

On June 10 ^th , 2021 Betty Goodman, 87, died peacefully in her sleep.  Betty Scherff was born at home in the rural bayou of the Ozarks.  When she was young, her family left the Ozarks and over her lifetime she lived a lot of interesting places, finally returning to Fort Morgan.  She leaves behind two daughters (as well as a much beloved extended family) and her very large and elderly English mastiff Big Jake.

Besides her children, she had a number of interests including cooking, gardening, interior decorating, reading, and was known to those she welcomed as an unsurpassed hostess.

While far from perfect, for those she loved and who loved her back, she filled many roles.  She was…

A light in the darkness

A guiding hand when in need

A nurse's touch when we were ailing

A smile when we were blue

A needle and thread when things were unraveling

A hot meal when life was harried

A full pantry when stocks were low

A hug when life got bumpy

A ready ear when things overflowed

A fierce defender when we were threatened

And a ready supplier of "I love you's" when we were walking out the door.

She danced and shopped and drove and bought shoes and listened and loved with absolute abandon and she will be missed far more than she knows…but we take some comfort when remembering her say if her life was a quilt, it would be filled with many beautiful colors.
