Betty M. Hellyer, 77, passed away Wednesday, March, 5, 2008, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born May 10, 1930, in Brush, to Henry & Nettie Teter. She graduated from Brush High School in 1948. On June 14, 1949, Betty married Richard Hellyer Jr. in Brush. The Hellyer family has lived in Northeast Colorado most all their life. At the time of her death, Betty & Richard were living in Akron, Co. She attended the First Baptist Church in Akron. Betty was a charter member of the Snyder Bible Church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She worked with Child Evangelism teaching Good News Club for many years. Betty & Richard worked several years serving as missionaries to the Navajo Indian Tribe in Southwestern Colorado. She enjoyed being with her family and attending school, church, and community events with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Richard, of Akron; 3 children, Arlene Taylor of Rio Rancho, NM, Sue Hellyer and Richard "Buzz" Hellyer III both of Akron, CO; 2 brothers, Henry "Bud" Teter of Ben Wheeler, TX, and Hughie Teter of Joliet, MT; 3 sisters, Geneva Daniel and June Crispin both of Fort Morgan, CO, and Leona Walters of Evans, CO; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl, her daughter-in-law, Sheryl Hellyer, and her parents. A celebration service of Betty's life will be Monday, March 10, 2008, at 1:30 PM at the Heer Mortury Chapel, 222 Cameron Street in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary on Sunday from 3 – 5 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Betty Hellyer Memorial Fund c/o Heer Mortuary.
