On July 5, 2022 Betty Ann Herman gained her heavenly wings at South Platte Health and Rehabilitation Center. Betty was born October 18, 1936 to Charles and Esther (Petre) Nelson in Sterling, CO. She was the youngest of seven.

Betty was married to Harlin Burkhart and from this union Ruth was born. They later divorced and she married John Herman Jr. and from this union four children were born; Chris, Billy, Jackie and Janice.

Betty was a cook at Papa Simone's Restaurant, and later worked in the kitchen at Eben Ezer Care Center until she retired. Betty's favorite thing was spending time with her family, whether playing cards, making meals or just spoiling the grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo and doing diamond paintings.

Betty was a lifetime member of the VFW where she served as a past president and many other chairs. She volunteered to call or work bingo. She loved going to the state VFW conventions where she met many new friends. She was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen until her health no longer allowed her to.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; her husbands, John and Harlin; her son Billy; and her daughter Chris.

She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Nichols of Fort Morgan, Jackie Perez of Nebraska and Janice (Carl) Hill of Brush; five grandchildren, Michael Schrum, Richard (Jessica) Schrum, Jeffrey Schrum, Rodney (Dez) Bronell, Chad Ingmire and Deanna Crane; and 17 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Heer Mortuary in Brush at 1:00 PM on July 13, 2022. She will be placed with her husband John at Brush Memorial Cemetery. A reception will follow at the American Legion on Nelson Road in Fort Morgan.
