Betty Louise Larrick passed away on May 11th, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on June 21st, 1929, in Englevale, Kansas, to Loren Benjamin and Prezzie Darity Swan. When Betty was five years old, the Swan family moved to Girard, Kansas, where she attended school with her older brother, Loren, and younger sister, Lily Kay.

Betty graduated from Girard High School in 1946 and went on to attend nursing school in Pittsburg, Kansas. After completing her training, she returned to Girard to work for Dr. Friggari, where she met Kenneth D. Breneman, a U.S. Air Force captain from Columbus, Kansas. Known for flying his F-101 fighter jet over to "buzz" the town of Girard and to let Betty know he was in town, Kenneth later proposed to Betty mid-flight in his own private airplane.

The couple married on March 17th, 1957, in Georgetown, Texas, while Kenneth was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. Following his honorable discharge, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where Kenneth attended the University of Denver Law School. During that time, they purchased a dryland wheat farm 12 miles south of Fort Morgan, and welcomed their first daughter, Becky Sue. In 1965, Kenneth graduated and began his law practice on Main Street in Fort Morgan. Their farm and family grew with the welcomed arrival of their second daughter, Jane Ann, and later, their son, Kenneth Dale Breneman, Jr.

Betty worked alongside her husband in his law office and on their wheat farm. Her greatest joy was raising their three children. Kenneth Sr. passed away unexpectedly in 1978.

Betty married William (Bill) F. Larrick, a farmer and developer. Together they shared over 20  years of dancing, farming, and traveling. Betty was known for her fancy shoes that would light up when they went out dancing. Their favorite place to go dancing was the Elks Lodge.  They both shared a love for travel and went on trips to Mexico, Europe, Hawaii and Australia. Las Vegas was a place they really enjoyed so they bought a condo.  Over the years many friends and family visited them there. Betty loved to play the Blazing 777 slot machines while Bill played poker.  What she loved the most was spending time with her five grandchildren and getting to travel with them when they were old enough.  She attended many of their sports events, music and dance recitals.

After Bill's passing in 1998, Betty continued to manage the farms and the commercial properties that he had remodeled during their marriage. She remained active and independent, enjoying many years of good health and travel with family.

Betty was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Fort Morgan DOES and enjoyed bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Loren Swan; and her husbands, Kenneth Breneman Sr. and William F. Larrick. She is survived by her sister, Lily Rambo of McAllen, TX; her children, Dr. Becky S. Haley, Jane A. Breneman, and Kenneth D. Breneman, Jr.; and five grandchildren: Benjamin Shomers, Travis Haley, Ellen Haley, Grace Breneman, and Kendra Breneman. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Franklin Shomers; several nieces and nephews; and her stepchildren, Dr. James W. Larrick, Donald R. Larrick, and Margaret L. Liliestedt, along with their spouses and children.

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Ft. Morgan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st, 2025.  Interment will be held at a later date.
