Betty J. Leis, 84, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away early Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born September 4, 1927, in Brush, to Marcel & Ethel May Steyaert. On November 14, 1943, Betty married Harold C. Leis in Brush. The Leis family farmed in the Hillrose community for several years. They later moved to Wellington, CO where they lived for 10 years and then to Ft Collins where they lived for 9 years before moving back to Brush. Betty was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church, and the "Old Cotton Bits" quilting club. She enjoyed crocheting. Her favorite pastime was spent with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Myers of Aurora, CO; Debra Blanden of Tecumseh, MI; and Cinda Monroe of Brush; her God-Daughter, Rhonda Westover of Fort Morgan; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; 1 sister, Bertha; 1 brother, Marion, and her parents. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 4;, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary on Friday from 4 – 6 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Immanuel Congregational Church c/o the Mortuary.
