Obituary

Betty Jean Milburn passed away on October 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 31, 1931, in Yuma, Colorado, to Yoland York and Angelina Kolk, Betty grew up in the Eckley and Merino areas. She attended school in Merino, living with her mother and stepfather, Lawrence Neuschwanger. During summers, she helped her grandmother Kolk at her hotel in Eckley and worked alongside her siblings hoeing beets.

Betty met Charles Eugene "Gene" Milburn while taking guitar lessons in Brush, sharing a deep appreciation for music and playing several instruments. They married on June 13, 1948, and spent most of their lives in Morgan County, enjoying 60 years of marriage before Gene's passing.

Betty and Gene were blessed with four children: Donna (Tom) Goeken of Brush, Larry (Louise) Milburn of Arvada, CO, Judy (Howard) Wickham of Fort Morgan, and Janet (Darrell) Judah of Wellington, CO. Betty cherished shopping, square dancing, round dancing, gardening, and maintaining a tidy home. As a round dance instructor, she formed many lasting friendships.

She is survived by her four children, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and her sister, Ida Sinden Sleuss of Fort Collins, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, and siblings Bonnie Dayley, Joyce Wallace, and Richard Neuschwanger.

Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Heer Mortuary in Brush at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
