Betty C. Schreiner, 81, lifelong area resident passed away early Sunday, November 13, 2011, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1929, in Fort Morgan to Albert & Eva Nichols. Her mother died when she was ten years old. Betty grew up in the Adena area and either walked or rode her horse to school. She later graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1947. She married Wilbur Schreiner on August 21, 1948 in Ft. Morgan. In her earlier years, she worked as a clerk at Ben Franklins and other retail stores around Ft. Morgan. She was a member of the Curves exercise group, and a very active member in the Relay for Life Cancer support program. Betty's family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. She loved everybody she met and you couldn't help but love her back. She was always ready with a smile and a hug for everyone. Survivors include her husband, Wilbur, of Fort Morgan; 7 sons, Tim, and his wife Jeanette of Highlands Ranch, CO, Robin, and his wife Marilyn of Batesville, Ark., Roger, and his wife Rese, Burt, and his wife Janice , Dwight, and his wife Sue and Harold , and his wife Pam all of Fort Morgan; and Glenn of Jackson Lake; her sister, Jean Davis and husband Ken of Greeley, CO; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; and 2 special ladies, Cleta Hastings and Judy Brown. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Audrey Spears and Lois Kembel; 3 brothers, Duane, Don, and Cecil Nichols; her step-mother, Louise Nichols and her parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Platte Valley Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow at the Serenity Falls Columbarium. Memorial gifts may be made in Betty's name in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
