Obituary

Betty Irene Yancey, 92, passed away late Monday, September 12, 2016 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

She was born March 14, 1924 in Fort Morgan to Fred & Anna (Mueller) Kembel. She married Floyd R. Yancey on October 30, 1954.

Betty worked at JC Penney in Fort Morgan for over 30 years before her retirement. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. An accomplished green thumb, she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, and she especially enjoyed her rose bushes. Betty was also an avid bowler for many years and she enjoyed watching baseball.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol Tormohlen and husband, Jim of Fort Morgan; three granddaughters, Michelle Peterson and husband, David of Ault, Carrie Carlson and husband, Chad of Fort Morgan, and Jennifer Tormohlen of Fort Morgan; and six great grandchildren, Ciralee, Clayton, Ryley, Cade, Kyle, and Carter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings; her husband, Floyd; and her daughter, Betty Lou Yancey.

A funeral service will be Friday, September 16th at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 16756 County Road 18 in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Yancey's name in care of Heer Mortuary.
