Beverly Jane
Kembel
May 24, 1935 — Sep 29, 2019
Beverly Jane Kembel, 84, lifelong area resident died peacefully in her home Sunday, September 29, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with cancer.
Bev's obituary as written by her:
I was born May 24, 1935 in Brush, CO to John and Goldie Frasier. I was born when the flood of '35' came through Brush. We stayed in the hospital a few extra days because we couldn't get home. We lived on a farm about three miles west of Brush. I went home to a three-year-old brother, R.C Bob Frasier.
We moved to a farm east of Hillrose when I started to school at a country school called Roosevelt. When I was in the third grade, we moved to a farm 2 ½ miles south of Fort Morgan and soon bought a farm on the DLD about a mile south of town.
I attended school in Ft. Morgan and graduated from FMHS in 1953. I attended Parks Business School in Denver. After graduating, I came back to Fort Morgan and was the office secretary of the Great Western Sugar Factory. In the summer I attended a lot of ball games where I met the guy I married, Marvin. We married at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan, February 6, 1955.
I was baptized in 1953 with Pat Yearous and she has been my best friend throughout the years. I was a member of the First Christian Church since 1953. I taught Sunday School in the Primary Department and was the superintendent for the department for a while. Marvin soon became a member and active in the church. I have been a deacon and elder and was one of the first women allowed to become an elder in the church.
I was also active in the PTA when the kids were attending Green Acres and was President and Secretary. When the girls were in Rainbow Girls I was active in Rainbow also, keeping very busy. Also, I hauled a lot of sugar beets until we quit growing beets. We traveled a lot when Marvin was on the School Board and Farm Credit Board.
After Matt started school, I did volunteer work for Mrs. Karas's class for some time and soon became a paid teachers assistant in any grade school that needed help. I continued until grandchildren came along and I became a volunteer babysitter keeping a different grandchild each day of the week-enjoying every day of it. In 2011 I slowed down after replacing my right hip and found I had a torn muscle in that leg. Seems like I did therapy all the time.
I have six children, Connie Tormohlen(Terry), Cindy Tormohlen(Marc), Chris Ley (Martin), Don Kembel(Sheri), Carolyn Mickey Ruhl (Eric), Matt Kembel (Mackenzie) Twenty grandchildren Jasmine Oliver (Jake), Adam Tormohlen(Cassie), Abram Babcock (Elizabeth), Briette Tormohlen, Peggy Watson (Jason), Madalyn Babcock, Karl Kembel(Tyanne), Kayla Tormohlen, Karisa Mason(Alan), Ali Spinuzzi(Taylor), Mitch Tormohlen, Ben Mickey (Isabelle), Kolton Kembel, Madison Ruhl, Alexa Ruhl, Alec Mickey, Kiara Kembel, Madeline Turner Kembel, Baylei Kembel, Aysli Kembel, and eighteen great grandchildren Tessa and Tate Oliver, Brayton Tormohlen, Marley and Presley Tormohlen, Regan, Miles, and Barrett Babcock, Delaynie Piper, Roxanne, Owen, Kinley, Zoey, Piper, and Gracie Kembel, Rhett and Rhys Mason, and Adeline Spinuzzi.
She is survived by her husband Marvin, all of her children, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, R.C. Bob Frasier, and son-in-law Jeff Mickey.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 3 rd from 4 until 6 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Funeral services are Friday, October 4th, at 11:00 at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan Colorado. Memorial gifts can be made to the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan Colorado.
