Billy Wayne Blue, 61, of Brush, passed away on May 10, 2015 in Brighton, CO after an eight-month battle with cancer. He was born January 21, 1954 in Pampa, TX to Billy Ray and Pearl Ellen Blue. Billy married Marilyn Wilson on January 19, 1980 in Boulder City, NV. A year later they had their daughter Jennifer. Family always came first to Billy and he especially loved spending time with his grandson James and his dog Charlie. Billy served six years with the United States Coast Guard in the 1970's where he earned several awards for marksmanship. He joined the Naval Reserves in 1985, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before retirement in 2007. Billy worked as an electrician for 26 years and was electrical supervisor for the Western Area Power Administration substation in Brush. He also worked with Colorado Parks and Wildlife for the past four summers. Billy really enjoyed working on his Model A's and was a member of the Northern Colorado Model A Club. He also enjoyed going to his cabin in the Big Thompson Canyon and spending time outdoors. Billy is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Brush; his daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Jim and grandson James Pauley, all of Brighton; his sister, Janet Kerth; and two brothers, Fred and Kevin Blue, all of California. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 22nd, at 10:30 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the US Coast Guard and the VFW #3551. Heer Mortuaries and Crematory are entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Bed and Biscuit no-kill animal shelter of Greeley.
