Bob Wetzbarger, 76, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Brush. He was born April 3, 1934, in Brush, to Guy & Annie Wetzbarger. Bob married Dottie Friye on July 12, 1959, in Winterhaven, CA. Bob served in the US Navy, officially retiring in 1980. After his discharge, Bob continued going to college and eventually received two masters' degrees. He was a teacher and an administrator in the Adams County, Colorado School District. Bob was very active in the Masonic Lodge organizations. He was a member of the Centennial Lodge AF & AM in Denver where he was a past master, , the El Jebel Shrine, and Past President of RV Roamers. Additionally, Bob served as the first president of the Special Military Active and Retired Travel Club (SMART). Bob loved to volunteer his time. He, along with his wife, Dottie, was honored as one the "Angels Among Us" in 2010. Bob delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, served as a driver for the DAV, and enjoyed calling bingo for senior citizens. One of his favorite past times was working crossword puzzles. Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Dottie, of Brush; 2 sons, Marion "Dean" of Denver and Marvin of Hartsell, CO; 1 brother, Cecil of Fort Morgan; 2 sisters, Ethel Schippert and Geneva Grippin both of Brush; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 son, John Robert Wetzbarger; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Everett; 3 sisters, Esther Linder, Marvol Hayes, and Nellie Lesser; and his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street, at 11:00 AM. The service will conclude at the church. Visitation will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush on Thursday from 2 – 6 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Shrine Children Hospital c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
