Obituary

Robert "Bob" N. Yearous, 87, longtime Fort Morgan resident , passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Valley View Villa Nursing Home. He was born September 19, 1919, in Clarinda, IA, to Isaiah & Hazel Yearous. The Yearous family moved to Fort Morgan in 1920. Bob graduated from Fort Morgan High School. He served in the US Army from April 14, 1942 until being discharged on November 28, 1945. While serving the US Army, Bob was awarded the American Service Medal, the Asiatic – Pacific Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, the WW II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. On May 23, 1958, Bob married Mary Kathryn Miller in LaFeria, TX. The Yearous family farmed NE of Fort Morgan on the Wildcat. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan for over 70 years. He was a member of the VFW #2551. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Denver Broncos, and playing golf. He was an accomplished fly fisher. Survivors include his 3 children, Gretchen Yearous of San Diego, CA, Sharon Kirk of Oskaloosa, IA, and Andrew Miller of Davie, FL; 1 brother, Leonard "Cork" of Loveland, CO; 2 sisters, Phyllis Rinker of Boise, ID, and Vera Christensen of Brush; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. His wife, Kay, passed away June 7, 1979; and he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Lindell and Gladys Emick; 2 brothers, Virgil, and Kenneth "Curley"; and his parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church. A military salute will be provided by the VFW #2551. Interment will be in Memory Gardens
