Bobby Ray "Pete" Hobbs, 73, of Ft. Morgan died at his home Tuesday evening. He was born December 5, 1933 in Pierce to James and Wilma Hobbs. He Joined the Navy in 1953 serving aboard Naval ships near the Marshall Islands during the testing of the Hydrogen, and the Atomic Bombs, he was honored in the Congressional Record for his service. He married Chrisellen Koenig March 21, 1954 before he was honorably discharged from the service. They moved to Ft. Morgan in 1958. He worked for the Model Cleaners for 30 years and part time with the schools for 20 years. He enjoyed supporting the Mustangs in all sporting activities. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a Lifetime member of the VFW post 2551. He was very fond of his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him the encouragement to keep going for the past four years as he struggled with cancer. He is survived by his wife Chris of Ft. Morgan, his children; Rae Ellen Windsheimer and husband Allan of Ft. Morgan, Martin Hobbs and wife Nora Bianchi of Aptos, CA., Charles Hobbs and wife Janet of Ft. Morgan, and Susan Boyett and husband Loren of Evans, his brother; Duane Hobbs of Newton, Iowa, sisters; Ann Hobbs of Greeley, and Mildred Collins of Laramie, Wy,. His grandchildren; Jackie and Jason Page of Akron, Jennifer and Nathan Forbes of Brighton, Jamie Windsheimer and Ryan Deines of Eaton, James and Joseph Hobbs both of Ft. Morgan, Anna Mi and Iris Hobbs both of Aptos, CA., and great grandchildren; Eric and Addison Forbes both of Brighton, and Hayden Page of Akron. He was preceded in death by his brother Harley Hobbs, sisters; Ruby Garrick, Hazel Hall, Dutchie Chapin and twin sister Barbra Rucker, granddaughter Ruby Hobbs, and his parents. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan with Inurnment to follow in the Serenity Falls Columbarium in Ft. Morgan.
