Bonnie June Marshall,86, of Fort Morgan, went to be with her Lord and Savior July 17, 2020 at the Spring Creek Nursing Facility in Fort Collins Colorado.

Born June 3, 1934 to Cecil and Doris Payne in Akron, Colorado, Bonnie was the oldest of 6 children.

She is survived by son Donald of Wiggins, Colorado, daughter, Becky Sue Marshall-Hanson of LaSalle, Colorado, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Richard Payne of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Bill Payne of Bovey, Minnesota, and sister, Claudine Holgate of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Bonnie was preceded in death by husband of 34 years, David Marshall, husband Bill Cook, infant son, Dennis Leroy, daughter, Barbara Jean Marshall, grandson, Coty Griffith and great grandson, Chance Trusty, her parents, and sisters, Yvonne (Sis) Freeman and Darlene Blank.

She attended Arikaree School through the 8 ^th grade. Her family lived in the Akron, Cope area at this time. Later the family moved to Leadville and took work at the Climax mine. It was here she met and married David Marshall in 1957.

They resided in Buena Vista, Colorado, where 2 sons were born, Donald Laverne and Dennis Leroy. A couple of years later they moved to a ranch near Gunnison, Colorado.  A short time later they moved to Golden, Colorado where 2 daughters were born, Becky Sue and Barbara Jean.

In June of 1964 they bought a small ranch at Wiggins, Colorado, and moved the family into a rickety old farm house with no indoor plumbing (that was an interesting year). Over the next couple of years, the house was added onto and indoor plumbing installed. After her daughters started school Bonnie started driving a school bus and did so for many years.  During this time, she also drove silage and beet trucks for some of the area farmers. She even tipped one over once.  She also stood at a conveyor belt, sorting potatoes for many years.  She worked as a waitress at the old Skelly Station and Josies's Mexican Food Restaurant.  She cut and wrapped meat for Your Choice Meats as well.  She was also an accomplished seamstress. She made most all of her and the girls dresses and Don and David's shirts for many years.  She also made a lot of clothes for grandchildren.

A couple of years after David became ill, she sold the ranch and they moved into a house in Fort Morgan.  It was here where David passed on.  Shortly after his passing she sold the house and rented a small trailer house.  Then bought a Toyota motor home and headed to Arizona to see her family.

When she returned to Colorado, she sold the motor home, her car, and most of her household furnishings.  She rented a U-Haul truck, loaded with what was left and moved to Arizona. After moving, she worked at various jobs and taught herself to paint and to play the guitar.

This is how she met second husband Bill Cook.  Bill played the bass guitar.  She and Bill and several others would go to nursing homes and dinner theaters and play old country songs.  During this time, she had also bought a pickup and fifth wheel camper and traveled to Texas and back to Colorado.

When she and Bill would travel with the camper, she would do most of the driving.  She enjoyed fishing, playing her guitars, painting, and also found a love for reading. In the last few years Bonnie consumed many books, and loved spending time with kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

She and Bill would on occasion come out to watch the group roping.  Bill fell in love with our dog, Shorty, He always called him Buddy. She lost Bill in January of 2019.

Bonnie was fiercely independent and was never afraid to try something new.  She taught herself to paint, to play guitars and keyboard.  Wherever she was, she always had a way of making new friends.  Recently she stated that she had lived a good life, she was happy with it, and was ready for the next chapter.  She was a woman of strong faith, who knew her Lord had forgiven and loved her.

As a last act of kindness, she has donated her body to science for further research to be able to help others.

A Memorial Service is planned for Friday, at 11:00 am, July 24, 2020 at the First Christian Church, 225 West Bijou, Fort Morgan.
