Bonnie June Trout was born April 28, 1925, to Richard and Mary Hellyer at her Grandma Baker's home in Fort Morgan. It is with a Joyful, but broken heart that we announce Bonnie finally got to meet Our Jesus face to face on May 13, 2025, after 100 years and 15 days.

Bonnie spent her entire life in Colorado, graduating 8th grade in Sterling and then from Snyder High School in her class of 3 girls in May of 1943. She married Arvis Kumke, an area farmer while a senior in high school in Dec of 1942.  They continued to live in Snyder where they started their family with three sons. Years later Jan 6,1957 Bonnie married Lee Trout. They lived in Thornton for a couple of years where their daughter was born, before returning to the Snyder area.

Bonnie worked in several different jobs over the years, including Reno Grocery & Locker in Snyder, JC Penney Dept. store in Brush, and the Snyder Beet Dump during sugar beet harvest. She will be remembered by most as the cashier at SureFine Grocery Store in Brush, working for Milt and Lila Uhlenhopp for 38 years.

Bonnie was a longtime active member of the Snyder Bible Church. She was known as the cookie lady during summer Vacation Bible School with all the kids. She made sure they each received their snack and drink. She enjoyed attending all Church Services, taking part in several Bible studies, and many church activities. She spent many hours reading her Bible and praying for her family, friends, and those who had special prayer requests. She thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of her second family, her lady's friend group. They would spend many hours together playing games, cards, going to concerts, vacations, sharing meals and just being there for one another. She loved and cared for all her Snyder Bible Church family. Bonnie loved being outdoors in her yard, planting and tending her flowers. However, her greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She followed them in sports, music, dance, to field trips, was their taxi service, caretaker, dominos teacher and general partner in crime.

Bonnie was able to enjoy some special trips. Some of her adventures took her on a trip to Arizona, and Chicago with friend Lucille Reno, her ladies group went to Branson, MO, a European trip with her daughter, that was a retirement gift from the Uhlenhopps, and trips to Mexico, Hawaii, California with her brother Bill and his wife Mary Ellen.

Bonnie was preceded in death by 2 sons, Adelbert (Bugs/Al) Kumke and Roger Kumke; her parents Richard and Mary Hellyer; her 3 brothers, George, and his wife Mary Hellyer, Richard and his wife Betty Hellyer, William "Bill" Hellyer; one sister, Vera, and her husband Clifford Henderson; 2 grandsons, infant son Roger Kumke Jr. and Derek Kumke; and her former husbands, Arvis Kumke and Lee Trout.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Roberta, and her husband Colin Greenwood; 1 son, Myron Kumke; her daughter-in-law, Karen Kumke, her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hellyer; 10 grandchildren, Kim Christensen, Shelly Shull, Carla Garinger, Tracy Jump, Angie Brouillet, Rodney Kumke, Brenda Lockridge, Heather Gleason, Jennifer Hernandez, and Dustin Janzen; 38 great grandchildren and 46 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Bonnie loved her Lord and Savior and lived a Blessed long life.

Visitation will be Thursday May 22 from 4-6 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Brush.

We will have a service to honor, remember, and celebrate her life at the Snyder Bible Church in Snyder, CO Friday May 23, at 10:30 am.  Internment will be following at the Brush Memorial Cemetery
