Brenda Kay Madsen, 54, life resident of Brush, passed away suddenly late Saturday, August 6, 2011. She was born July 10, 1957 in Brush. Brenda graduated from Brush High School in 1975. At the time of her death she worked as a paraprofessional for the Brush RE-2J School District at Beaver Valley School where she was fondly known as "Ms. Magic". Brenda loved her dogs and spent many hours outdoors with them, listening to music, and working in her garden. She especially enjoyed the simple things of life often taken for granted. Survivors include her 2 children, Erin Madsen of St. Petersburg, FL, and Matt Madsen, and his wife, Stephanie, of Littleton, CO; her Mother, Dorothy "Dotty" Doughty of Brush; 5 sisters, Janette Peters of Colorado Springs, Diana Smith and Debbie Whiteman, both of Grand Junction, CO; Lori Baker of Julesburg and Angie Doughty-Brown of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her dad, Al Doughty, and one brother, Larry "Ace" Eskew, and 1 nephew, Michael Anderson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Brush High School Auditorium. The service will conclude at the school. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Morgan County Humane Society or Cerebral Palsy Foundation c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street in Brush.
