Bud Andrew
Loomis
Jul 22, 1928 — Mar 19, 2017
Bud Andrew Loomis, 88, of Fort Morgan passed away peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan, CO. Bud was born July 22, 1928 in Fork Township, MI to Andrew and Florence Loomis.
Bud had a true love for fishing and nature. He and" Ol 'Brownie," his fishing truck, went quite often to his favorite fishing hole in Wyoming. Bud worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for years but returned to his love of farming in 1954. He was a long time dairy farmer both in Michigan and Colorado. Bud loved all animals, including dogs, cats. He also rescued many baby mice from the hay fields, and he had a pet pheasant. He even befriended a possum he named "Opie". He enjoyed playing music and could play just about any instrument yet the guitar, mandolin and harmonica was his favorite. He did not like music playing on the radio; instead he made his own music and could whistle like no tomorrow. Bud studied hard and received his pilot's license and bought his own airplane with funds that he saved.
Bud married Ruth Elaine Clark on March 1st 1948 while stationed in Denver with the United States Army. Although they did divorce, they were best of friends and fishing buddies.
He is survived by his two daughters, Christine (Bob) Hudspeth of Mitchell, OR; Andrea (Calvin) Jarrell of Fort Morgan; four sons, Steve (Jody) Loomis of Snyder; Ade (Candi) Loomis of Fort Morgan; Bob (Deb) Loomis of Merino; and Dale Loomis of Fort Morgan; two siblings, Peggy Reed and Bobby Loomis of Michigan; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings, and his ex-wife, Ruth Elaine.
Viewing will be held at Life Fellowship starting at 9:30 AM. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Life Fellowship in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Heer Mortuaries and Crematory are entrusted with the arrangements.
