Obituary

Byron K. Larsen, 66, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the emergency room of the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born June 25, 1944, in Brush, to Elmore & Barbara Larsen. Byron graduated from Brush High School in 1962. He attended Trinidad Junior College, Northeast Junior College and University of Northern Colorado. He has lived most of his life in Morgan and Washington Counties. Byron loved working on his farm. He also enjoyed riding horses, fishing, spending time with friends, square dancing, and cooking (he is well known for the delicious fudge he made). Survivors include his sister, Patricia Gunn of Woodrow; his step-mother, Margaret Larsen of Brush; step sisters, Shirley Monheiser of Drake, CO, and Nancy Shapley of Stoneham; a step-brother, Russell Hunt of Kansas; a niece Heather Marne Scholl and her husband Dwight, and a great niece Marni Clare Scholl; and several cousins including June Stoops. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Kay, parents, and several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10:00 AM at the Brush United Methodist Church. The service will conclude at the church. The Heer & Dahl Mortuaries & Crematory are entrusted with the arrangements.
